One Week Old

It’s been a whole week since the new online shop went live. And many thanks to all of you who have come to browse, shared the link with your friends, and bought some items from me. We’ve had nearly 200 visitors to our website, from across the world! So in addition to UK and Australia, and of course New Zealand, welcome to our visitors from Scandinavia, Saudi Arabia, Europe and North America!

To celebrate our one-week birthday it’s time for a new FREE PATTERN. With New Zealand officially now in spring, this one’s for our Northern Hemisphere visitors - or for those of us in the Antipodes who have plans to visit/Christmas presents to send to Northern friends and relatives. Mittens! Enter the discount code ‘FREEPATTERN’ at checkout.

Chips ‘Easy As’ Mittens in DK Yarn

There’s a bit of a history to these mittens. In my first school, we had a lovely craft teacher called Mrs. Wetherly. And she believed in teaching ‘her girls’ more than the average school crafts. By the time we left to go to High School, we were crafting and cat-walking quite complex knitted and sewn items. After we’d mastered the knitting basics of knit and purl, this was the first pattern she gave us.

The mittens are knitted ‘in the flat’ on straight needles using double knitting/8 ply yarn (ideal for beginners - no circular knitting) then sewn up along two seams.

The perfect yarn for these mittens is our squishy 100% merino DK wool. And don’t forget - until the end of September there’s still 10% off everything. When you get to checkout enter the discount code ‘STARTUP10’.
